For more than a century, Kilsyth Football Club has given local players, families and volunteers a place to connect through community sport. Now, a large-format LED scoreboard helps the club present AFL scores to spectators at Pinks Reserve.

Metrospec supplied one 10 mm pixel pitch LED display for the club. The screen measures 4,880 mm long by 2,460 mm high and sits within a steel casing. Metrospec also supplied an aerial and remote app capability, while Kilsyth AFL Club has software that allows it to display AFL scores to spectators.

Kilsyth Football Club:  A long-standing part of the Kilsyth community

Kilsyth Football Club’s roots extend back to the early twentieth century. Today, the wider Kilsyth Club supports football and netball pathways for juniors, seniors and women, as well as Auskick participants. It also highlights the contribution of local families, schools, volunteers and businesses. Consequently, the club provides more than weekend competition: it creates opportunities for people to participate, develop skills, volunteer and build local connections.

The club operates at Pinks Reserve, which Yarra Ranges Council identifies as Kilsyth’s major sporting precinct. The reserve includes sports ovals, a softball ground, a regional netball facility and the Kilsyth Sports Centre. This active setting gives the scoreboard a clear job: communicate match information to spectators gathered around the ground.

A large-format Football Club LED scoreboard for AFL match information

The supplied Football Club LED scoreboard uses a 10 mm pixel pitch and provides an active display area approximately 4.88 metres long and 2.46 metres high. This wide format gives the club space to present the essential information spectators need to follow an AFL match.

Pixel pitch describes the distance between the centres of adjacent LED pixels. Display planners generally select pitch alongside viewing distance, screen dimensions, content detail and budget. The steel casing on this project also forms part of the supplied solution. In addition, the aerial and remote app capability support remote interaction with the display system.
